Blackjack appeals to many as the most interesting and captivating game, both in its electronic and classical versions. Its oldness is only equalled by its popularity and fame, the players being given the best shares. All the gamblers play against the dealer, with 2 cards to start. The dealer initially distributes each player one card and one to the bank and then again one card to each player, all face up. The player by the left side of the dealer starts the game, being allowed the following: say „pass”, double, split or hit. These options are detailed below. When he is done, the rest of the gamblers take turns until all have had the opportunity to play their cards. The last to play is the dealer. Each card values its inscripted number, whereas the knave, the queen and the king value 10. An ace can be valued as 11 or 1. A dealer will keep on taking cards until he reaches a total of 17 or more. If the dealer exceeds 21, all the gamblers still on will be doubled their bet. If the dealer holds a total ranging from 17 to 21 he will check the others’ points. If a player holds more points than the dealer he will be doubled his bet; if his number of points equals the dealer’s the bet stays on the table and there are neither winners nor losers; and if the player happens to hold less points than the dealer he loses his bet. If the player’s first two cards are an ace and a 10 (or the picture) then the combination is called „Blackjack” and is paid 3 to 2. As we have already stated, each player has several options when his turn is up: Stand – the player is satisfied with the cards he holds and does not need any extra Hit – the player requires another card Double – when the player wants to double his bet, he is allowed to but will only get one card Split – if the player is given two similar cards he can do the following: he places on the table another bet identical to the previous, after which the cards are distributed and for each card he is given an extra one. Thus the gambler plays with two hands instead of one. For each hand he will be asked by the dealer whether he wants to stand, hit, double or split. These are the golden rules of Blackjack.
